The history of

As a student of Prof. Richard Hochrainer (former solo timpanist of the
Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra) I learned the Viennese tradition of the mallet production. These traditions have been passed from generation to generation until this very day.
I have meanwhile expanded the assortment of the "Viennese mallets" to 140 models. All models have been tested several times and are best qualified for professional use. Since the production of my traditional "Viennese Mallets" became known very quickly at home and abroad, many well-known timpani and percussionists all over the world (mainly Europe, Japan, Korea and USA) are using my handmade "Kaufmann-Mallets".
Only the best natural materials – selected by me personally – are used. Pure hemp wool felt, 100% pure Loden fabric, cotton yarn, natural cork, beech wood, walnut wood, ash wood, maple wood and many more materials are used for production. This enables my mallets to ensure the best possible sound and quality of play and also to give my customers pleasure in making music.
